This is Alghero, a small coastal town that numbers just over 40.000 inhabitants, known as the Coral Riviera. Famous for its white and kilometre-long beaches where rivers of sun-hungry tourists flock every summer. It is located in a place that is very similar to the idea we may have of heaven, if this were on the Mediterranean. But Alghero is much more than a beautiful coast.
Alghero is a popular tourist destination, for both Italian and foreign tourists. Its white sand beaches and the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea attract numerous visitors every year. Furthermore, the city is an ideal starting point for exploring other natural beauties of Sardinia, come il Parco Nazionale dell’;Asinara and the Costa Smeralda.
Alghero ha una storia che risale all’;prehistoric era, but it became especially important during the medieval period. The city was founded by the Genoese around the 12th century and later became a Catalan colony in the 14th century. Questa influenza catalana è ancora evidente nell’;architecture, in the local language and culture.

Alghero is rich in cultural traditions, which include religious holidays, folk festivals and events related to fishing and gastronomy. The city is renowned for its traditional cuisine, which includes fresh fish dishes and local specialties.
The historic center of Alghero is characterized by narrow paved streets, ancient walls and watchtowers dating back to the Catalan period. Una delle attrazioni principali è il “;Bastione Marco Polo”;, from which you can enjoy a splendid view of the sea and the sunset.
Living Alghero means being able to have an aperitif on the beach while listening to a local band, warm up thanks to an improvised bonfire in the most remote of the numerous hidden coves along the coast, camping under the stars and forgetting what day it is. If you pay attention to the musical dialect spoken by the locals, you immediately realize that you are not in just any city in the world Sardinia, but in a place where the foreigner, fascinated by such beauty, couldn't help but leave its mark, imposing itself violently on the thousand-year history of this place. The small port that borders the historic center of the city, it leaves those who visit it with the unmistakable nostalgia that characterizes maritime cities.
These, but many other reasons, make Alghero a mystical place from which to be kidnapped.
